Inspection of Newcomers Welcomed

18 August 2009

Baerami Thoroughbreds’ exciting shuttle stallion recruit MOUNT NELSON(GB) arrives at his home for the 2009 southern hemisphere breeding season on August 26 and will be freely available for inspection. The dual Group 1 winning son of Rock of Gibraltar (Ire) is presently serving his quarantine period in Australia and is set take up residence at Baerami at the same time as many major breeding outfits in the region are staging annual stallion parades.

Though it is not the usual policy of Baerami Thoroughbreds to hold an Open Day, principal Paul Higgins is encouraging any breeders visiting the area to call in on the stud to view MOUNT NELSON (GB) or any other stallion on its 2009 stud roster.

“Baerami will make any visitors wishing to inspect Mount Nelson, our newcomer Where’s That Tiger (USA), and any of the resident stallions, more than welcome,” confirmed Higgins. “The activity in the region on the eve of the covering season is one of the highlights of the year and we are more than happy to play our part. All we ask is that potential visitors notify us of their likely arrival time so that we can make the necessary arrangements.”
Located at the top of the Widden Valley, Baerami is located en route to Widden Stud and Baramul Stud, and within close proximity of the Hawcroft family’s Byerley Stud at Sandy Hollow. MOUNT NELSON (GB) has just completed his first northern hemisphere breeding season at Newsells Park Stud in Hertfordshire, England. A leading member of the Aidan O’Brien stable over three racing seasons, MOUNT NELSON (GB) won at Group 1 level at 2-years and at 4-years, claiming the time honoured Sandown Eclipse Stakes (G1) in 2008.

Significantly, MOUNT NELSON (GB) is the only Group 1 winning son of Rock of Gibraltar standing at stud anywhere in the world and provides an excellentalternative for broodmare owners whose budget does not extend to the $55,000 (inc GST) service fee at which Coolmore Australia stand the outstanding son of Danehill (USA). For comparison, the introductory service fee of MOUNT NELSON (GB) is just $16,500 (inc. GST).
